Another New Stamp Set & Technique!

Thanks to Melissa who recently motivated me to get back to personal stamping and updating my blog! Here's another card that I made at her house the other night. This card features another new set which will be in the upcoming catalog. Most of you should have received your preview brochure in the mail. This set, "Embrace Life" makes it's debut in the brochure!
I had a hard time capturing the true elegance of this card on camera. This set has a sort of Asian flare to it and is really beautiful. The flower image is stamped onto the right side of the card and shows up in white (much better in person). It's hard to see in this picture, but this VersaMark resist technique turns out great!
VersaMark Resist
Stamp image in VersaMark onto glossy cardstock
Dab sponge onto desired color of ink pad and dab onto glossy cardstock
I used 2 colors in coordinating tones on this card (lighter and darker)
Be careful not to rub over the versamark
The image that was stamped in VersaMark should pop out in white!

I love the size of this card! It's 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and fits in a standard envelope. Many of you have expressed interest in a technique class. I'm thinking that I will get one on the calendar for January, so watch for more info soon!
Card Recipe
Stamps: Embrace Life
Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Basic Black, Glossy White
Ink: Soft Sky, Sage Shadow, VersaMark, Basic Grey
Accessories: sponge, wide white organdy ribbon

New Sets + New Techniques!

This card features a brand new Hostess Level 3 set which will be in the new catalog! The set is called "Time Well Spent" and includes 12 double-lined images: flowers, a stem/leaf, a butterfly, heart, and 2 cute greetings. I made this card at my friend Melissa's house at a demonstrator meeting. She's the person who I signed up under when I became a demonstrator this past February. Anyway, she instructed us on how to use the wax crayon resist technique. It turned out really cool and was very simple! Give it a try:
Wax Crayon Resist Technique
Stamp double-lined image in black onto glossy cardstock
Use white crayon to color in spaces where you do not want color to show up
Dab a sponge onto colored ink pad and rub over entire piece of glossy cardstock
Use a tissue to wipe off white spaces (where you colored w/the crayon)
The small flower at the bottom of the card is stamped in black and the center is colored in using a white gel pen.
Card Recipe
Stamps: Time Well Spent
Cardstock: Purely Pomegranite, Basic Grey, Pretty in Pink, Glossy white
Accessories: white crayon, sponge, tissue, white grosgrain ribbon, white gel pen

Loads of Love

Here's a cute card for my sister-in-law Amanda. She just moved into her first new apartment! I thought this card was perfect for her. This is the cutest set because it has lots of accessories which can be stamped in the back of the truck. And since it's not on the retiring list, we will see this one in the new catalog!
Recipe:
Paper: Orchid Opulence, Pixie Pink, Whisper White, and DS "Flowers for You"
Ink: Basic Black & markers-Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Pixie Pink, Orchid Opulence, Pretty in Pink, Gable Green
Accessories: Large Oval Punch, Orchid Opulence grosgrain ribbon
Stay tuned for an adorable Valentine's card featuring this set! That's a little inside info for the upcoming year for you! I will be having a Valentine's Card class where we will make super cute cards and a couple of gifts! You won't want to miss it!

M.I.A....yeah, that's me!

Yes, I've been Missing In Action! I apologize for not posting anything for SO LONG, to those of you who've been checking this blog. November was a crazy month! Thanks to the great response to the Merry & Bright card kits! I cut and prepared 22 kits in November! In addition to the craziness of the card kits, we've been passing around colds and the flu. And many of you have heard that we've got a new "bundle of joy" on the way! Yes, another blessing to our family is due to arrive around the first part of July! Therefore, I've been taking naps during any free-time I might have and going to bed early. So, my blog has definitely suffered. Well, hopefully I will be a little more motivated to keep it up and running and the new year approaches.
Along with the new year, I'm anticipating the new Stampin' Up! catalog! January 1st, the catalog will be posted on the SU website and I should have my copy by then. I will be ordering additional copies to sell to anyone who's interested. They're $5 each and packed full of new and excting products: stamps (of course), new paper, Simply Scrappin' kits, glitter, punches, and so much more! You will definitely want to purchase one from me! So stay tuned for more info and new ideas!
Well, thanks for your patience and thanks for stopping back by to read this! Feel free to post any comments or suggestions as new posts arise.
And have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

A Manly Thank You

My mother-in-law needed a "manly" thank you card, so here's what I came up with. It's simple and masculine. And the best part is that it took me all of about 5 minutes to make! I actually got this idea from the SU catalog--what a great resource for card designs! This would also work great for birthday or thinking of you. I love the colors: Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust & Very Vanilla + a hint of Sage Shadow. This was the first time I used my "Starstruck" stamp set! The stars are versatile and great for guy cards! The card size is 6 5/8 x 3 l/4; sized to fit the long envelopes.

Customer Appreciation Gift

I promised my customers an appreciation gift if they placed an order before the end of August.

Here's what they received.....a cute set of notecards and a little gift bag (not pictured)! The notecards all have matching envelopes. I used several different sets: In the Spotlight (hostess), Big Flowers, and of course punches! For those of you who placed an order and received this gift...thank you! I really appreciated it!

Creative License/Party Punch Birthday

Zeb needed a card to take to a birthday party on Saturday, so I combined paper and self-adhesive die cuts from the Creative License Simply Scrappin' hostess kit AND the hostess party punch stamp set. Here's what I came up with. I also used the "Eat Cake" words (which Zeb loves!). And I had a soccer ball stamp, which worked great since his friend is a soccer player. A circle punch and some dimensionals....and the card was complete! And don't forget the envelope! I used the "Eat Cake" set to decorate the front. What do you think?
Stamps: Party Punch (hostess), Eat Cake
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Blue Bayou, , Soft Sky, DS Creative License Simply Scrappin' (hostess)
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Not Quite Navy, Black
Other: l l/4" circle punch, Designer Label Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Creative License Simply Scrappin Self Adhesive die cuts

Polka Dots & Paisley Birthday

A cute, quick birthday card for Ashley! Ashley hosted an awesome workshop on Sunday (see below for what we made)! Her birthday was Wednesday, and I wanted to make her a card. I love the Polka Dots & Paisley set which coordinates beautifully with the DS Petals & Paisley paper! I got the inspiration for this card from splitcoast...where else! I changed a few things and this is what I came up with. I hope she likes it!

Stamps: Polka Dots & Paisley, Eat Cake

Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive

Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive, DS Polka Petals & Paisley

Accessories: 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, tempting turquoise grosgrain & Light pink gingham ribbon

Fall Flowers 8x8 Scrapbook Page

It's really starting to feel like fall now! Although we've still had some hot days, the evenings and mornings have been refreshingly cool! This is the perfect time of year to think about preparing your fall scrapbook pages. Yes, the ones that will showcase back-to-school, pretty leaves outdoors, harvest parties and more! An 8x8 pagee is so simple to do and easily holds 2-3 nice size pictures.
I demonstrated this easy scrapbook page at a workshop on Sunday. This page really shows how versatile SU stamps are. The name of the flower stamp set I used is "Looks Like Spring!" Does anything about this page look like spring?? Simply use colors that coordinate with whatever season suits you! And of course an alphabet set, like the new "Wild West," makes titles a cinch; much easier than stickers! Isn't Zeb a cutie at age 3?!
And check out the pictures!

Stamps: Looks Like Spring, Wild West Alphabet, Polka Dots & Paisley
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky, Really Rust, Fall Flowers DS, Prints Old Olive DS paper
Punches: Spiral punch, Scalloped circle punch, Spring Flower Bouquet, Large Oval
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware, Pumpkin Pie & Real Red grosgrain ribbon

Another Merry & Bright

This set is soooo adorable! I love this cute little snowman! I demonstrated this card for a make-and-take at a workshop on Sunday. It was super easy to make! Check out my post below for details about how you can purchase this set + everything needed to make ten cards!

Fall Flowers

I love the Fall Flowers Designer Series Paper. It's so pretty and very "fall-ish." I thought that these cards showcased the paper very well. I used a variety of colors and card sizes and designs. I also used the new Pretties Kit for the long blue card....so pretty:) The silk flowers are very simple to dye. In fact, to dye the turquoise flower, I used my marker and colored a tiny bit on the lid of the turquoise ink pad. I then used a small paint brush dipped in water to pick up the color and brushed it on the flower. Voila....an easy way to custom-dye these flowers:)
Click on the picture to enlarge it and see the details.
I'm thinking of offering a card class to make these cards. Let me know if you're interested. Possible dates are Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, October fourteenth. If you're on my email list, I will send out details soon.

Baby Shower Card and Album

Here's an adorable "New Baby" card using one of my favorite stamp sets, "Wild About You." I made this card to take to a baby shower that I went to this past weekend. This card fits in a long note envelope (6 3/4" x 3.5"), but the front flap that folds over doesn't meet the back. I scored the twelve x twelve paper at 6.5, so the front flap is 5.5". I really like this size as an alternative to the standard.

Stamps: Wild About You, Riveting, Warmest Regards

Ink: Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Apricot Appeal, Pretty in Pink

Paper, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White

Other: circle punches, stampin dimensional, celery grosgrain ribbon, white organdy ribbon

I also made a baby scrapbook album for her. I mainly used Celery and Apricot since they didn't know if it was a girl or boy. It was a personal challenge for me to only use supplies I already had:) I used a combo of Simply Scrappin kits, chipboard, and cardstock. Here's a couple of the finished pages. Sorry they're not the best photos. I took these literally minutes before I left for the shower.

Creative License Simply Scrappin'

I used the Creative License Simply Scrappin' scrapbook kit for an album I gave my mother-inb-law for her birthday! I was really pleased with how it turned out! I filled it with photos of both Zeb and Gabriel. She loved it!
This is a really cute kit and very versatile! I've seen it used for 3-D items as well as cards and scrapbooks. The colors are Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, and Blue Bayou. This is a hostess level 1 kit, so you can get this for yourself by hostessing a workshop! Let me know if you're interested!

Chipboard Christmas Ornaments

Inspired by the new holiday mini....love those On Board Trimmings!...I decided to play around with some chipboard I already have and make these star ornaments! I used On Board Accents. I swiped one of the stars in Rose Red Craft ink, used the scalloped circle punch on Wild Wasabi, and stamped and punched the greeting from the retired "Riveting."
I covered the other star with liquid glue and then pressed it onto a piece of double-sided paper. I then cut around the star and finished it off by using my sanding blocks (for the first time!) around the edges. The "Merry Christmas" greeting is punched from the "Party Punch" set (hostess level 1). Both stars are finished off with ribbon. They really make very cute ornaments! If you absolutely love these, place an order sometime between September 1-15 and you'll receive one for FREE!! OR contact me and I'll help you make your own!

MORE Christmas Cards!

Here's a couple of more cute Christmas cards using some traditional Christmas colors. I used the new "Dashing" double-sided paper for both cards, which really added a lot, I think. And the best part is...they're both very simple to put together! If you'd like to make these two cards + others, contact me to sign up for the Christmas stamp-a-stack in October!
Santa "ho-ho" card: Holiday Tag Team, Headline Alphabet, "Dashing" designer series paper, Whisper White, Old Olive, & Real Red.
JOY card: Whimsical Alphabet Lower (retired), "Dashing" designer series paper, Whisper White, Old Olive, Real Red, Circle punches, & dimensionals.

Christmas Cards...looking ahead

"City of David" set, VersaMark, Old Olive, Bravo Burgandy, Handsome Hunter, Hodgepodge Hardware, designer series paper, satin ribbon.

"In the Spotlight" hostess level 2 set, Warm Words, Snowflurries, Wintergreen double-sided paper, rhinestone brads, dimensionals, 5-petal flower punch.

"Block Party" set, In the Spotlight set, Wild Wasbi, Purely Pomegranite, Bayou Blue, double-stitched ribbon, circle punches & dimensionals.

After "wrapping up" the Christmas stamp camp this past weekend, I kind of got into the Christmas card-making spirit! I decided to get a few of my Christmas sets out and play around with some ideas. Here's what I came up with so far. I think these cards are pretty yet they were so simple to make! As some of you know, I'll be offering a Christmas Stamp-a-Stack sometime in October. I will have details on this event soon!

Another QUICK 6x6 Album-in-an-Evening!

I had a few spare minutes last night after the scrapbook class to play around with a little 6x6 album for myself. Actually, I'm thinking about giving this one to a little friend of Zeb's in Ohio. Her birthday is in September, so I'm really planning ahead here! The point is, though, this was soooo quick and easy! I used the same layouts as the ladies used for their albums (see posts below). However, instead of a Simply Scrappin' kit, I used designer series paper (Petals and Paisley) and die cuts from one of the Accents and Elements tins. These tins are full of self-adhesive die cuts, just like the Scrappin' kits, but on a smaller scale (there's not as many), and there's no paper included. Just add photos and another quick easy scrapbook is complete!
Plus, I found these cute albums at the dollar store! They're 6x6 in size and hold 20 pages in plastic page protectors. Many of the colors matched the Simply Scrappin' kits really well, so I included one with each kit purchase for the class. Contact me if you're interested in receiving one of these cute albums with your Simply Scrappin' kit purchase and schedule a class date with me!
